Today the High School Track and Field team competed at Milan High School for the Regional meet. If you place in the top 2, you qualify for the State Meet in Zeeland. The top 8 placements also receive medals. Sydni Ausberry won the 100m dash becoming Regional Champion and is the first female from Summit to qualify for the State meet in Track and Field! Then she joined Christine Iwu, Phalyn Doucet, and Erica Taylor in the 4×200 relay. The girls finished in second place, earning a medal, running a PR of 1:49, and qualified for the State meet! These amazing ladies join Sydni in being the “firsts” to qualify for States in Track! Along with these accomplishments, we also had many records. Haille Grajek ran her best mile time with 6:09 and then ran her best 2-mile with 13:28! Erica Taylor ran a PR in the 400m with 1:06, Christine Iwu ran a season record in the 800m with 2:40 and Da’Veeda Fifth-Turner ran her record in the same event with 3:05.
