Today the High School Track and Field team competed at Milan High School for the Regional meet. If you place in the top 2, you qualify for the State Meet in Zeeland. The top 8 placements also receive medals. The 4×800 relay team of Eric Thompson, D’Anthony Shaw, Jamal Jackson, and Rodrigo Garcia ran a personal record of 8:30, finishing in third place, earning a medal, just missing the State meet. In the 100m hurdles Antoine Green finished in second place with a PR of 15.68. Antoine is the first and only male athlete from Summit Academy to qualify for the State meet in Track and Field! Later in the meet, Antoine won the 300m hurdles becoming the Regional Champion and qualifying for his second race at the State meet. Davon Pearson finished in third place in the 100m dash, earning a medal, and just missing qualifying for States. Rodrigo Garcia finished seventh in the 400m with a medal and a PR of 52.68. Jamal Jackson finished 6th in the 1600m with a medal and personal record time of 4:37. Along with these wonderful accomplishments, we also had several boys run personal records. In the 3200m Ryan Greene ran a huge personal record time of 11:42, beating his previous time by almost a minute, and Josh Lee broke 1 min in the 400m, with a PR of 59.23. Eric Thompson ran a PR in the 800m with 2:10 and Gabe Lee ran a PR in the same event with 2:26. Finally, Cameron Earnest threw a personal record in discus with 81’4”.
