The Lady Dragon’s Varsity Soccer team earned their 10th win on the season with a 3-2 victory over Henry Ford Academy this evening.

After even play through the first 30 mins, the HFA Navigator’s scored first on a through ball to the corner crossed and touched past the Dragon’s Keeper, Mykenzie Hamilton (Fr). Six minutes later, with just 4 minutes left before the half, Dragon’s Midfielder, Amanda Gaskin pressured the Navigator’s defender, causing a quick turnover and knifed her way past the remaining defense and scored her 21st of the season. This evened the half at 1-1.

This was also Senior night at Summit Stadium, where the 8 graduating seniors were recognized for their contributions to the soccer program. The Summit Seniors include: #1 Adrianna Torres, #2 Jensen Mayes, #5 Keyana Stoudemire, #10 Amanda Gaskin, #12 Grace Conti, #16 Jasmine Penny, and #22 Alexis Larry. Congratulations athletes and parents!

Natalie Mrktumian (Jr) score quickly to open the second half on a direct free kick from Alexis Larry (Sr). This tandem teamed up again later in the second half on a corner kick taken by Mkrtumian and a one-touch score by Larry.

Mykenzie Hamilton (So) had 11 saves while earning her 4th win in net. Grace Conti (Sr) lead the Dragon’s defensive effort with support from Jensen Mayes (Sr), Jasmine Penny(Sr), Alliah Cruz (Sr), and Jessah Price (Jr).

The league championship tournament is scheduled to being Monday, May 22nd, followed by the MHSAA State Tournament on Tuesday May 30th.
